How To Get Rid of Pet Odor and Stains in Carpet

  • September 28, 2020

No matter how much you love your pets, accidents are bound to happen. Unfortunately, these accidents can be difficult to clean up and leave long-lasting stains and odors in your carpet. If you have pet stains that are hard to clean up, here are a few things that you can try to remove stains left by pets and eliminate pet odors:

If the Stain Is New

If you notice the stain before it sets in too long, the first thing you need to do is soak up any wet areas with a layer of paper towels. If it is a rug, make sure you clean up the area underneath as well. Once you have the area dried, use warm water to rinse out the affected area then re-dry it.

If the Stain Has Set

Most of the time we are not lucky enough to catch an accident as soon as it happens. If you find a stain that has already set, try using baking soda and vinegar to lift the stain and remove odors. Cover the area with a thin layer of baking soda and wipe gently with a cloth with vinegar. If that still doesn’t work, try using a rented carpet-cleaner from a grocery store or your local hardware store.

Use A Professional

Sometimes pet stains seem impossible to remove no matter what you try. In cases like these, using a professional is the best option. Not only is it surprisingly affordable, but it also gets the job done quickly. Professional carpet and rug cleaning will remove odors, get rid of deep stains, and leave your floor looking as good as new. At the same time, professional carpet cleaning can get rid of allergens and other dirt that has built up on your carpet. This increases the lifespan of your floor and leaves it looking as good as new.
